Laura K. Rider has been planning recreation programs and events for more than 20 years. A 1984 graduate of Mount Royal College's Community Recreation and Leisure Services program, she started off instructing and program planning with local clubs in Calgary.

Some of the events she has coordinated to date are:

• Successful repeat performances! Laura organized well attended August trade fairs for the 2005, 2007, and 2008 Strathmore Rodeo and Heritage Days!

  
  
  
  

• Helped plan Carol and Michael Schmidt's wedding, July 2008.
  
  
• In March, 2006 Calgary hosted the ISU World Figure Skating Championships. Unfortunately, money slated to pay for the Italian team's meals and medical expenses was stolen. Laura initiated a fundraiser for the Italian team and collected more than enough money, products and services to replace what they had lost. Extra contributions were donated to Skate Canada.

• Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo 2004 - Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association.

• A highly successful 25th Anniversary Reunion held for over 100 Forest Lawn High School graduates.

  Laura takes pride in pulling the pieces together to create a great event. She gives 100% to each project.
